# Viewing Charges in the Portal

The Charges section of the Portal gives you visibility into all charge activity for your organisation.

## Charge List

Navigate to **Charges** from the main menu to see a paginated list of all charges. Each row displays the charge amount, currency, status, creation date, and your merchant reference if one was provided.

## Filtering and Searching

You can narrow the charge list using the following filters:

- **Status** — filter by `pending`, `confirmed`, `declined`, `canceled`, or `chargeback`
- **Date range** — filter by creation date or result date
- **Customer** — filter charges associated with a specific customer
- **Instrument** — filter charges associated with a specific instrument
- **Reference** — search by your merchant-assigned reference value


## Charge Detail View

Click any charge in the list to open the detail view. This shows the full charge record including:

- Charge ID, amount, currency, and status
- Customer and instrument information (inline or linked object)
- Timeline of status changes with timestamps
- Declined reason and bank error code, if applicable


## Exporting Charges

Use the [Reports](/products/directdebit/content/guides/portal/reports) section to generate downloadable exports of charge data filtered by date range and status.
