Environments

Each product has a sandbox (sometimes called staging) and a production environment. Each environment has its own base URL and its own credentials.

Switch environments

Change the base URL and use the credentials for that environment. Direct Debit states that request and response structures are identical across environments, so no other changes are needed.

Credentials only work in their own environment:

Fincore credentials have an environment of staging or production. A key or token from another environment returns 401, and creating a token with a credential from another environment returns 400.
Direct Debit issues separate keys for sandbox and production. Never use production keys in development or staging, and never send test charges to production.

What each sandbox does

Direct Debit	Mirrors the production API, including webhook delivery to your endpoint. Charges are not real and no funds move.
Billpay	Returns mocked responses so you can see how the API behaves in each scenario. Monato certifies your integration here, then gives you the production key.

All requests must use HTTPS.
The request timeout is 60 seconds.
